We can design and manufacture any type of bespoke staircase to meet your requirements, supplied in hardwood or softwood. Below, we have detailed two examples of our staircase design projects.
Grade I Listed mansion house staircase design
We were commissioned to overhaul the stairway in a stately home. The staircase covered 5 flights with over 40 meters of handrail and more than 400 spindles.
We redesigned the two existing bullnose step’s to accommodate the positioning of the new handrail scrolls, other areas were redesigned to give a symmetrical look and a balanced feel to the hand.
We had to survey the original staircase which dates back to the William and Mary period of around 1701. This was to ascertain correct face moulds and profiles for the new handrail.
We produced Barley twist balustrades in Tulip wood and redesigned string bracket’s with dovetail detail.
Georgian villa staircase design
We were commissioned to replace the original Georgian staircase after it became vandalised when the property was converted to flats in the 1960’s. Our brief was to replace with identical design but the timber species was to be Brazilian Mahogany.
